Fun with Word Choices - Favorite game of the US media
Okay so the news is talking about how US Marines have been "detaining" the wives of insurgents and using that form of intimidation to gather information about their husbands. The anchorman said that the US is guilty of, "ungentlemanly conduct".
Sounds like taking hostages to me. How is that different from what the insurgents are doing when they detain civilian contractors and journalists? Granted the Marines probably won't kill the wives, but they aren't guilty of anything to warrant "detention."
Check out what ABC News said about this.

Yo...one of my college buddies gave props to your blog on myspace. Your shit's dope. I have been cracking up.
Or shakin my damn head...nuff respect my sista.
Side questions...didn't Murdock just buy out the company that owns myspace as part of his budding internet empire?
Anonymous.. thanks for stoppin by! Stay toasty.
So about this "detention" shit.. it's horrible. I'm sure to be a wife and knowing that you may get the call that your husband is dead at any moment is stressful. Now, let's add on the pressure of those big, bad US soldiers (who've been trained to hate you and think of you as less than human) coming up in your crib and dragging you into a holding cell... hmm. I'm sure this is the BEST way to stop the insurgency. Now, if they don't show their faces and "come get their wives" maybe the soldiers should rape or kill them? (Taking pictures along the way, of course, because Abu Ghraib has proven that that's an interrogation tactic that the US believes in)... Jeeze Louis. Let one innocent US military wife get snatched and it would be Hiroshima time.
I fixed the link to the ABC news story.. it should work now..
Someone tell me what's up with MySpace. I heard this girl on the radio in DC complaining about people who think they're hot stuff because they're popular on MySpace.. and she was hating pretty heavily. Then I went for the first time to see my shoutout from R.S. Hostage. (Super Thanks!) I thought it was a cool site.
But is this basically like BlackPlanet.com minus the freaky hook ups and nudey pics?
It looks a lot like Friendster, which I just couldn't get into. I didn't see the point.
Ok, so you got a shout on MySpace and now it gets a shout on MBT. It's only fair. ;-)
I tend to talk to people I already know on MySpace. It is similar to Black Planet (and some freaks do still post nudie photos - i'll never understand that but i've come to the conclusion that they don't have real jobs where there bosses/co-workers might run across that mess). The great thing about it is that it's searchable, so it is a lot easier to track down someone you lost touch with (if they have a page of course). My freshman year roomie found me this weekend, and we hadn't talked in a couple of years. Also, you don't have to read news that is 3 months old like you do on BP.
